Turtle Get Well

I made this card for my younger sister who recently underwent major back surgery and will have a long recovery with plenty of physical therapy.  At the hospital they fitted her with a "clamshell" brace, but it looked more like a turtle shell to me.  She said it felt good, like it was holding her together, but it was painful and difficult for her to get up and onto her feet, she reminded me of a little turtle on it's back struggling to get upright again.  I found this image and sentiment on Bird's Cards here:

http://www.birdscards.com/back-on-your-feet/

I enlarged the turtle, colored with copics and cut him out.  I punched out Fisckers grass in Mossy Meadow and Wild Wasabi.  The background paper is retired Stampin' Up.

Nite Owl

This cute little critter is made with Stampin' Up punches and dies.

I am not usually one to put together punch art, but I could not resist this cute guy as demonstrated by Dawn Griffith.  For my art piece, I used a piece of Stampin' Up Night of Navy stamped with Hero Arts Tiny Stars in Encore Ultimate Metallic Silver.  I embossed a piece of Early Expresson and hand cut out a branch.  I used glitter on the Daffodil Delight moon.  Those sad, sleepy eyes are Tempting Turquoise.

Punches used were:
2 1/2" Circle (moon)
Bird Body from the Bird Builder punch (ears)
Top Note die (head)
7/8" Heart (beak and feet)
1 3/4" Scalloped Circle (body)
1 3/8", 1 1/4" and 1" Circle punches (eyes)

Gone Fishing, Catch You Later

Today I am sharing a "Gone Fishing" birthday card that I made for my brother-in-law who is an avid fisherman.  I had to blur out the inside sentiment as I took the photos after writing in the card.  I can tell you that it had something to do with the fact that my sister, who only took up fishing in the last couple of retired years, has caught the biggest fish ever on their fishing trips.  Her last catch was a whopping 25 pounds.  Anyway this is a tribute to my dear b-i-l.  Happy Birthday and obey the "House Rules."

For this card I used Stampin' Up Mossy Meadow as a base cut at 5 1/2 x 11 and scored at 4 1/4  and
8 1/2.  The fish were cut from BoBunny's Trail Mix papers, formed with a stylus and adhered with dimensionals.  The Front of the card is also Bo Bunny Trail Mix.  The stamps are all from Close To My Heart stamp sets:  Catch You Later and Banner Wishes.  Inks are Stampin' Up Mossy Meadow, Island Indigo and Early Expresso.

Happy Hello Simply Sent

The Very Best of Happy Hello Simply Sent - Stampin' Up

I searched the internet and found the very best ideas for using the Stampin' Up Happy Hello Simply Sent Kit and added a few of my own twists.  With a few pieces of added paper you get eight cards with envelopes, two boxes, a bag and an envelope gift holder with a belly band.

Check out the instructions for each project below:

Candle Birthday Card:  Attach card base to a piece of 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" Smoky Slate Card Stock, stamp with Happy Birthday Wishes from the Simply Sketched Stamp Set; tie a piece of the twin around the front of the card; cut four pieces of the Smoky Slate trim to 1 1/4" lengths and adhere to the card over the twine; take one of the medium yellow flowers and cut the petals to resemble candle flames and adhere above each candle; apply Stickles or glitter to the tip of each candle flame.

Doily Card:  Card base is 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" So Saffron; Cut the front off of one of the Happy Hello cards and adhere it to a piece of 5 1/4" x 4" piece of Smoky Slate 1/4" from the top; Cut a doily in half and adhere to the middle top of the card; wrap a piece oÆ’ 3/8" x 6" of yellow ribbon to the top to hide the seam then tie a knot bow over the ribbon with a smaller piece of the yellow ribbon.  Attach the adhesive back flowers using a punched Smoky Slate tiny flower for the center of the flower.

Just Because money/gift card holder:  Fold card with white part to the outside, score folded card at 1" from the fold and fold front over and glu two folder l" edges the the back.  (Note I used the word window punch, but this is not necessary are the money or gift card will stay in place between the fold and the card base.)  Adhere card base to a piece of 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" Smoky Slate stamped in the lower right hand corner with sentiment from SU Vintage Verses in Versamark ink and embossed with white embossing powder.  Cut three pieces of the strips of the Basic Gray to 1 3/4" each and adhere to the upper left of the card.  Tie a button with a piece of the twine around the front of the card and secure with a glue dot.

Gift Card Holder:  With the Word Window Punch, punch a hole large enough to hold a gift card in the back of one of the cards.  Adhere (around the edges only) to to a piece of 5 1/2" x 41/4" piece of Smoky Slate card stock that has been stamped and embossed with "just for you" from the SU Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set. Cut a piece of Sycamore Street designer paper to 1" x 5 1/4" and adhere to the top front of the card; adhere a piece of 1/4" x 6" ribbon to a  strip of the Smoky Slate then attach to the front just under the dp, tie a knot bow of ribbon to this then top with a two piece flower and a button with a twine bow.

Hello Card:  Adhere card to a peice of 5 1/5" x 4 1/4" piece of Smoky Slate card stock.  Stamp the inside with Wishing You A Day As Perfect As You Are from SU Vintage Verses stamp set.  Adhere Smoky Slate strip to front of card topped with a piece of 1/4" x 5 1/2" piece of So Saffron card stock.  Build one of the flowers and adhere to the strip.  I used the tiny flower punch for the center of the flower.

Hello Stationery:  Adhere card over a piece of 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" So Saffron card stock that has been scored and folded at 4 1/4".  Use two pieces of the Smoky Slate adhesive backed strips and build two flowers as shown adhering to the front of the card and inside bottom right.  Perfect for writing a letter.

Gift Box 1 and 3x3 Card with Envelope:  Score one of the cards at 1" down each side, turn are score at 3" and 4 1/4" from the tip of the blue front of the card. Cut tabs to form box bottom and glue back first then front.  Adhere a strip of the Smoky Slate around the middle of the front of the box, build a flower with dimensionals and adhere.  Fill a 3" x 5" cello bag with treats, tie with a piece of the twine.  Cut a piece of Whisper White to 3" x 6" score at 3" and fold in half.  Cut out one of the negative pieces from the flower adhere to the front; make a matching envelope with a piece of 5 3/8" 27#, 98 Bright Copy paper using the Envelope Score Board.

Gift Box 2 and 3x3 Card with Envelope:  Score one of the cards at 1" on both sides and at 3 1/2" and 4 1/2" from the front tip.  (Disregard the pre-scored fold line on the card); cut the taps and fold into a box and adhere.  Take a strip of the Basic Gray and wrap it around and over the "Hello" on the front of the box.  Cut a strip of 3 small flower negatives from the flower sheet and adhere a piece of 1" square of Smoky Slate behind the middle.  Finish with three of the tiny punched flowers.  Make a 3x3 card per above and adhere three more of the negatives and one of the flowers.  Make an envelope per above.

Envelope Bag:  Take one of the envelopes and score down both sides and the bottom at 1", crease your folds.  Put you hand into the envelope and gently force open expanding sides and bottom to 2" and into a bag, gluing bottom triangles.  Use a piece of the Smoky Slate strip 3 3/4" long and adhere to front of bag, lay down a piece of the twine and adhere a flower over the top to hold it in place.  Fill and tie shut.

Envelope Gift Card/Money/Tea Bag Holder:  Place envelope bottom to the top and front side down to top of score board, score at 1 5/16", 1 9/16", 4 3/16" 4 7/16".  Trim off envelope flap to inside score lines..  Fold and crease envelope at score lines.  Score flap at 1/4" from fold and crease.  Stamp inside of folded envelope with SU Petite Petals stamp set.  Belly Band:  Cut a piece of Baja Breeze or Pool Party 3/4" x 6 1/4" wrap around envelope and adhere in strip together at front.  Cover front of band with flower made with 1 3/4" scalloped round Basic Gray, Pansy and Petite Petals punched flower pieces.

Americana Flag Pop Up Slider Card

LAND OF THE FREE, HOME OF THE BRAVE

My flag was made with cardboard, I stripped off one side of a cardboard box flap and peeled off one side to reveal the corrugated ridges.  I used a sponge and added some white acrylic paint and rubbed it across the ridges.  With a very small paintbrush I added the red stripes.   I painted on a blue square in the corner and added white dots for the stars.  After the paint dried I crumpled the cardboard and brushed it all over with Vintage Photo ink on a sponge.

The base card stock is Stampin' Up Crumb Cake, the inside and slider are Very Vanilla.  The American Eagle stamp is by Expressions In Ink the fireworks and sentiments are from the Close To My Heart set "Home of the Brave"

Thanks for visiting my blog today.

Rev Up The Fun

Perforated Pull Tab Birthday Gift Card/Money Holder

The outside of this card was made with the Stampin' Up "Rev Up The Fun" stamp set, with the exception of the tire tread marks which is from the Close To My Heart set "Maximum Power"
The Car was stamped onto Very Vanilla, then I continued to move and stamp backwards to get the effect that the car is in motion.  I stamped the car again in Black ink, Garden Green and in  More Mustard.  I cut out the black car, then just the body of the green car and glued it over the black base to show the tires, I punched out the number 25 from the yellow car and glued it over the green 25.

The paper clip is holding the card closed, because I have yet to fill that little inner pocket with CASH for the Birthday Boy.  Once the card is complete and signed, red line tape will close the card so that the recipient can pull the tab and open it up to find his Birthday wish and gift.  Inside of the card is stamped with CTMH Maximum Power sentiment.

Dimensions for the card are 4 1/4 x 11 scored at 5 and 10 1/2.  I ran the Stampin' Up Perforating trimmer blade across the front of the card at 1 and 1 1/2 " stamped the tire tread onto a piece of Crumb Cake and cut them out to fit across the perforated strip.

The Open Sea

Another one of my very favorite Stampin' Up sets is The Open Sea, my dad was a Navy man and every time I use these stamps memories come flooding back.

I CASED this card design featured on page 130 of the new Stampin' Up 2014-15 Catalog changing the colors to Pacific Point and Soft Sky.  On the inside I made a pocket, punched the center on envelope punch board and sealed the edges with some yellow anchor tape by Glitz.

By The Tide

Perforated Tab Pull Card

This is the second card that I made using the same dimensions as the Rev Up The Fun card but this time with a beach, summer theme.  This Stampin' Up set is one of my favorites.  I also used a little starfish from the new Sea Street set and the sentiment is from Express Yourself.  I used some Retro Fresh washi tape across the pull tab.
