Watercolor & Brusho Workshop

Our May Watercolor Workshop featured watercoloring with Stampin' Up inks and Brusho powders.

Our first card was inspired by one in the new 2018-19 Annual Catalog from which orders can be placed on June 1, 2018, however, I used a retired stamp set for my version called Fabulous Florets, isn't it beautiful!

Our second card was inspired by many of the Stampin' Up Waterfront images on Pinterest.  This 2018 Occasions Catalog stamp set is a must have, hurry and get yours.

Isn't this card lovely!  This card was also inspired by one in the new 2018-19 Catalog and uses the Graceful Garden stamp set.

Our last card features the retiring Awesomely Artistic stamp set, another must have, so order one before May 31, 2018

Stampin' Up From Land To Sea Jellyfish (Medusozoa)

This card is much more vibrant than this picture shows.  This is not my design, I found a beautiful card by Sandy McIver showing the bokeh technique and decided to give it a try.

Here is a link the Sandy's beautiful card and tutorial:

Stampin' Up By The Seashore

This sandy little crab coming out of the water was stamped onto watercolor paper in Dusty Durango ink and filled in with a water brush.  I placed a mask over the crab with Post-It tape and stamped swirls of water and foam bubbles in Versamark ink and heat set with white embossing powder.  A sponge was used to add Coastal Cabana ink over the embossed water then I stamped the swirls again in Coastal Cabana.

Baked Brown Sugar was used to sponge over the basked crab and then the sand was stamped all around.  Base of the card is 4 1/4" x 4 1/4" in Bermuda Bay layered with So Saffron, Coastal Cabana and Crumb Cake.

I liked this card so much that I made several of them, some with the crab going into the water.  The crab is from the Stampin' Up set By The Seashore and is retired.

Under The Sea Watercolored Seahorse Cards

110# White card stock was used as the base for this card.  I used a stencil around the edges and smoothed on Ranger Texture Paste.  Watercolor paper was painted with Stampin' Up Coastal Cabana and Tempting Turquoise inks and while still wet it sprinkled it with sea salt, let it dry and brushed the salt off.  Then using a seahorse stencil cut from the Cricut I smoothed over more Texture Paste.  A light coat of Wink of Stella was applied to the seahorse and bubbles.

For the second card I used a base of Coastal Cabana then a sheet of Naturals.  This time I painted the background on watercolor paper then applied a tissue paper seahorse to the center, while the seahorse was drying, I added Texture Paste all around the edges.  In the end I did not like the look of the seahorse, so I applied some water and Calypso Coral ink.  White twine and colored beads were added to the bottom.

Black Magic Watercolor Butterflies

The butterflies were die cut from Stampin' Up Shimmery White card stock and watercolored with inks.  The sentiment was stamped in Versamark and heat set in white embossing powder then colored with Stampin' Up alcohol markers.  110# black card stock was used for the base of the card.

My favorite stamp set from Stampin' Up 2015-16 Catalog: Watercolor Wings
So beautiful!  I love the triple stamping for these color combination butterflies, you can mix and match however you like.  These are some of the order bags for my June deliveries.  I don't think I will ever part with this lovely set.

Watercolored Bird

I totally cased this card from Dini's blog found here:http://mamadinis.blogspot.com/

I used regular and pearlized watercolors then stamped the bird from "You Will Fing Refuge" from Our Daily Bread designs with SU Chocolate Chip ink. I then colored in and highlighted the bird with Copic marker.

Since I changed the following, I hope this qualifies for not completely copying Dini's very enchanting card: Back panels are hand made, embossed on MS Score board; Sentiment is computer generated; Leaves die is by Cheery Lyn and pearls are placed on upper part of card. I did not re-stamp the bird, form him and put him over the original.

I admire Dini's beautiful watercolors and maybe with much more practice I will get better.

Thank you Dini for all of your inspiration.
